Our new management company, Sandcastle Escapes, has a link on its website to Sand Odyssey, a company near Destin that will teach you how to make fabulous sandcastles.  If you browse their website you will  find a cool, huge sandcastle of Hogwarts, Harry Potter and all.

The guys at Sand Odyssey give lessons.  Next time I am there I am going to hire them to teach me how to make these neat designs.  We ought to take advantage of the best sand in the world.

Destin Area Rated Tops

For the last 13 years, the Destin area was selected by readers of Southern Living magazine as one of the top family vacation destinations and voted the area the No. 1 Beach Town/Resort.

The Southern Living readers ranked the Destin area third behind Walt Disney World Resorts and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

“I think it’s the way we treat people down here,” said Darrel Jones, president and chief executive officer of the Emerald Coast Convention and Visitor’s Center. He said people in the lodging business decided in 1991 to cater to families.

“You can advertise and promote all you want, but you’ve got to have the good folks down here that actually handle the families and do a good job of keeping them happy,” Jones said.
